When equipment is a matter of trust ...

Organisations aiming to save lives are among the most important achievements of human civilization. Sometimes, courageous helpers and volunteer rescue workers have to spend hours or even days at the scene of action – be it natural catastrophes or tragic accidents. Frequently these missions take place in pitch-black night under the worst visibility and weather conditions. More often than not, the only two things helping rescue workers withstand extreme conditions are their iron will and their equipment. And they have to be able to count on the latter a hundred percent. Tools that don't fail even in the most extreme conditions are their best and sometimes only ally.

The LED LENSER® M14 is the flagship of the M series and the flashlight of choice for long-time missions. Before this lamp entered mass production, it had passed – with flying colors! – a multitude of thorough practical tests involving rigorous procedures. Our engineers especially had in mind emergency units whose working hours are incalculable: disaster relief workers, firefighters or police forces. When put to continuous use, the M14 impresses by its light output, its functionality and its outstanding running time: 96 hours of reliable light!

Due to its extreme beam distance (280 meters), this handy lamp literally puts many a competitor's model in the shade. In addition, you can fit the M14 to your particular requirements via light programs (Smart Light Technology), so that the light functions you need are accessible in a flash.

The M14 with individual light programs is a lighting tool that makes your work safer and more effective.

  1. Battery voltages and rechargeable batteries

Posted by Unknown on 12th Aug 2011

@Nelis - NiMH rechargeable batteries have a lower nominal voltage (1.25V)than Alkaline (1.5V) batteries and this can cause the torch to think that the batteries are running low soon after putting fully charged batteries to use. Rechargeables can give disappointing performance. This is a not a fault of the torch or batteries, it is just the difference between the batteries.

  2. Ninja LED

Posted by Troy on 6th Jun 2011

Hey got this new M14 and it the business... Only thing I would like them to do is rough feel on the outer slide so you can flick the focus quicker...:) GREAT JOB GUY's.

  3. Don't go anywhere else

Posted by Norm on 19th May 2011

Initially I didn't believe it possible for a torch to perform as described in the product brochures.. but I was pleasantly proved wrong! I have thrown away my million-candle brightness spot light in favour of the M14!!

  4. Some functions fading as batteries go down

Posted by Nelis on 2nd May 2011

I am still impressed with this light but I must point out that by the time that the batteries reach 1,2 V, the 15% dim function has all but ceased to work. So does the facility whereby the light goes down to 50% dim between 2 and 5 mins, the 130% brightness function when the switch is touched. Everyting is back to normal as soon as new batteries are used. At this stage there is also no discernable brightness difference between the high energy and energy saving modes. Maybe these things should be disclosed by the manufacturer? The fact remains that the light still shines very bright, even with the batteries depleted to 1,2V.

  5. Wow I am impressed.

Posted by Carel Mouton on 4th Apr 2011

Wow!!!!! Was the only word I could get out after inserting the batteries and pressing the switch. This little torch packs a punch of light that can only be believed once you have seen it yourself. I am a Maglite fan but I dont have any use for my Maglite anymore. This is as extreme as it gets. Well Done LED Lenser.

  6. Great light

Posted by Nelis on 27th Jan 2011

It feels extremely strong and robust, it throws a very useful beam - not only on full focus but also at the widest setting, when it usefully lights up a large area. The circumference of the body is just very slightly too big for easy handling of the switch (very subjective, I know) but slipping the lanyard over my wrist gives enough confidence in case it slips out of my grip when operating the switch. I also do not like the rings it throws at wide setting, but I must admit that in practice it is not a hindrance. So far (have only had it for a week!) I am very satisfied. This light is the perfect pairing with my Maglite XL100.

  7. The most awesome torch

Posted by Waine on 31st Dec 2010

My best friend bought this marvelous piece of German engineering for me as a gift. I was immediately blown away by the power and the multi functionality of this flashlight. This sparked my intrigue so much so that I visited this website to learn more. These reviews have already said it all. I highly recommend this flashlight to anybody who is looking for the brightest, clearest flashlight that takes four AA batteries for use in a wide range of situations. I doubt if you will find an equal.

  8. "Chernobyl"

Posted by Warren on 30th Dec 2010

Truly has nuclear capabilities! This torch blows my Maglites away!
Very clean flood circle, daylight balanced light, great weight and beautifully made. I know have 3 LED lenser torches and have bought one of these as a gift for my best mate.

    Worth every cent.

  9. Best Ever!

Posted by RiaanH on 8th Dec 2010

My wife bought me this one for a bday present. I have always been a fan of my trusty old Maglite, not anymore. I can still use my Maglite as a batten though ;) Thanks LL for an awesome product.

  10. The Bazooka!

Posted by Hein Garbers on 23rd Sep 2010

Knowing how much I dig the LedLenser range, my brother spoilt me with this torch as a gift.
Everything I said in my review of the MT7 also applies to this torch - great construction, powerful performance, SLT offers great solutions in many field situations, the supplied clip is also really handy.
The M14 dramatically boosts battery life - 146h (please note the battery life is 95.5h - admin) , it's insane. Also, the larger lens diameter improves the field-of-view, whether it be in spot or flood focus setting.
If I need to conseal the torch, I choose to carry the MT7. If I need both hands and know that I may have to clench the torch in my teeth, I use my MT7 or M5 (for which purpose I've applied 5 layers of insulation tape to the tailend of both the MT7 and M5). Other than that, the M14 is as convenient and pratical to carry in spite of it being about twice the size of the MT7 / T7.
I drove from Gobabis to Mariental at night on an old Honda500 off-road and strapped the M14 to my helmet for light. The cool thing is that all of the 6 or 7 vehicles I passed, flashed as if I had my brights on! This torch is awesome.
